Davy Crockett Log Homes
Custom Log Home Builder

Oh, the American dream. Acres of land with mountain views to die for, trickling streams bordering a pristine pasture, your barn and pond just a short distance for the porch you are sitting on, take it all in while you sip your morning coffee. To add to this postcard image, your home is a beautiful 2 story log structure that blends into the natural surroundings, and is a cozy retreat year round.

Davy and Wrynn Crockett had this dream and made it a realty, not only for themselves, but for people all over the United States. With over 20 years of experience designing, building, constructing and marketing, they are a team of building professionals that are willing and able to share their knowledge with you every step of the way as they make your dream home a reality.

Davy Crockett (his real name) is a craftsman, an artist, and a woodsman with a love for his craft of creating log homes. His passion for working with wood is evident in the way he works with the logs, and his thorough knowledge of how wood reacts in different environments. When I walk into the house, he and his assistant were shaving and fitting porch posts to the rails for the magnificent front porch. It was like watching a sculptor at work. The logs used to build the first floor structure were shipped in from Wisconsin and are 12" x 12" found on round hand hewn cedar logs.

As I look up at the complex system of logs intertwined in the exposed cathedral ceiling, Davy said, "We had those logs shipped in for Lok-n-Logs in New York." These logs were used to construct the loft and build up roof system. From the second story loft, the view into the living room was impressive, and the blue mountains visible from the trapezoid windows were breathtaking. I took a deep breath as a gentle breeze carried the smell of cedar and pine through the French doors.

"Of all the logs I have worked with, Lok-n-Logs plantation grown red and white pine are the best building logs available." says Davy. "The milling is excellent. Great structural stability low shrinkage, and high insect resistance, because of the pressure treated borate in an environmentally safe insecticide that will not change the wood's natural appearance, has no unpleasant odors and provides protection for logs without potentially hazardous solvents, Lok-n-Logs offers hand peeled and shaped logs in numerous log profiles, which are graded to ANSI standards. Pine is a beautiful wood and takes a stain with a beauty all its own which complements the cedar in this home. Davy made me aware of the settling involved in log structures and explained how he builds to compensate for this, with screw jacks and splice joints. "People have a fear of settling, however, it's a natural occurrence."

By working with most of the major log home manufacturers, Davy and Wrynn can provide your with a choice of many different styles and prices. If you are part of the growing number of people renovating or restoring older log homes, you will be pleased to know that they also restore the exterior and/or interior of log homes. "We build and install stairways and railings that will blend in with your decor. " says Wrynn. "We also custom design and build additions to exiting log homes from porches to sunrooms, " she adds.

Davy and Wrynn are specialists in the log home industry. Their combined experience gives them a unique perspective and a huge database of suppliers and professionals to draw from. Wrynn offers her expertise on the financial side of building a log home and shows clients where they can save money, where they should spend a little more, and educates them along the way.

"Wrynn's financial common sense and advice was invaluable to us during the construction of our log home, " says one client. "She even manages to quell my concerns and fears during the huge and brand new experience."

Yes, that American dream. I saw it being built for some lucky visionary who had the foresight to choose a living, breathing Davy Crockett log home. Call Davy and Wrynn and start the process of making your dream a reality.
